As students get older, I feel it is important to prepare them for the world ahead. During the first half of the year, the seventh grade works as a team to show our students all of the tools available to be organized, well informed, and operate independently. Now , it is time to use them.
By setting this goal, (having students get their focus question from the internet without my assistance) I hope to give them important life skills. In a few years, my students will encounter teachers at EOS who require students to do this very same thing. In addition to this, our adult world is becoming much more email and computer dependent. Here at Ashford School, we enjoy a smaller, safer environment where I can monitor things closely and fix problems. This gives our students the opportunity to iron out any difficulties while I am available to help. Let's take advantage of it while it is still available to our students and make sure they are well prepared for life's adventures.
I want to assure everyone that this new policy has been reviewed in class carefully and I will help students with any problems that arise. In addition, we have many computers available as well as frequent study classes that allow for time to get these assignments. This means that you do not have to own a computer at home to do this. I will make sure that the proper tools and time are available to everyone. And of course, if a student is not allowed to use a computer, he/she will be exempt from this new policy.
